In Conversation with Andy Bolus

We couldn’t have been more excited to sit down with Andy Bolus aka Evil Moisture. Andy has been going strong since 1990 and we cover a lot about his early days and early releases. We also touch on what dreams are to us, as well as Greh’s fantastic cocktails. Another noise history lesson is in session.

Fatal Impact – Satan For Ever

This week we wander into cathedral ritual practices with Fatal Impact’s “Satan For Ever” cassette from 1991. We get deep with warped organ, chanting layers and lactating statues. A true cassette artifact that is begging to be played at your next ceremony. Satan For Ever.

In Conversation with Seymour Glass (Bananafish)

We are starting 2020 with a very special interview with Seymour Glass of Bananafish Magazine. We discuss the history of Bananafish and Seymour’s time in the noise trenches. He gives us anecdotes of interviews, people he worked with, and the process of putting an issue together. Another noise history lesson is in session. Tardiness will not be excused.

HOMETIME: Christmas Eve Special

Merry Christmas Eve with special bonus episode of the Connellys’ Hometime series. Normally a weekly Patreon-only series, Mike and Tara wanted to spend their favorite holiday with the entire Noisextra family. Sit by the Yuletide fire as they discuss their favorite Christmas themed noise, horror movies, and the spirit of Christmas.

In Conversation with Moonbeam Terror

Our second interview from the Hospital Fest weekend is with Jilla of Moonbeam Terror and Autoerotichrist. The discussion goes deep when talking about her music and art and pivots to hilarity when talking about beans and Wisconsin. Her album “Comfort Knife” was one of our favorites of the year and her set at Hospital Fest was visceral magic. Put on your chain mail and watch out for sharp corners.

In Conversation with Smell & Quim

It was an honor to talk with one of our favorite bands, Smell & Quim. A great history lesson, we go from off the wall Quim-ness to earnest chats about the early days, costumes throughout time and baking bread. Hear Tara predict the props used the following night. Head Dave describe what “the English Method” is. Hear a great talk with one of the all-time legends. And remember, “life’s too short not to bake your own bread.”

PAINJERK – Mission Invisible: Kill the Poor

Surprise! We are back a day before the Hospital Fest with a very special bonus episode. Did you know there was an unreleased Painjerk album from the ’90s? Neither did we, but here it is! Easily the most exciting noise release of 2019, Painjerk’s “Mission Invisible : Kill the Poor” on Hospital Productions is here to scorch the earth and begin anew. Spoiler alert: we absolutely worship this album. In addition, Kohei Gomi sent us some great information on this unreleased masterpiece that we share throughout the episode. Curl up, huddle up and get ready to be overwhelmed by pure and perfect Painjerk sound experimentation.

Year End Wrap-up

As the the first year of Noisextra winds down, we thought we’d discuss some of our favorite albums and sets of the year. It’s been an excellent year for noise and it was hard to whittle our lists down, but each of us came with our personal stand outs of 2019. We cannot wait for many more years of noise listening and noise talking. Thank you all for listening, to us and to noise.
